Mentoring for Artists & Photographers

If you are looking to

grow as you learn,

have a mentor who

genuinely cares about you,

be in an environment that is nurturing,

fun and filled with like-minded creatives

all on a similar journey to your own,

finally uncover, unblock

and unleash your potential,

you've come to the right place!

"What you offer is kind of unique and I think you should especially highlight the personal interaction…This is a very big strength of yours. Not many do this, so people are not used to getting that."

Siri Brændshøi

“I applied the techniques taught in the first two parts of the Compositing Mentorship to a photo I took recently. What can I say, I think it is one of the cleanest masks I have ever created for one of my animal portraits. Thank you, Robin Griggs Wood, for doing what you do.” ~ Christian Meerman

“I am immensely lucky to have a wonderful mentor that understands me so well. She reads my feelings as if she was part of me, it is just brilliant and I am sure it makes my evolving process in becoming an artist so much easier, so much more interesting. I am loving this process!!” ~ Patricia dos Santos Paton

Never belittle your lofty dreams;

Never squelch their seeming madness.

Those dreams are your energy and inspiration;

They are the fuel that propels you.

“I will forever be thankful for your wisdom, and encouragement. Whenever I have doubts I think of the “Myth of Talent”.  When I run into a Critic, I think of “How to Critique”.  I know my accomplishments to date, and those in the future are as a result of the "Guiding Light" I met many years ago. You will probably never know the impact you had on my artistic development. . . and continue to have to this day.” ~ Chuck Palmer

This is Your Mentor

Back in the days when I was an Arcanum Master, one of my mentees shared this on their Arcanum application when asked the question, “What is your ideal Mentor?”. Not only is it well written––poetic even––but it's me as a mentor spot on.

Here's his text (shared with permission):

My target for all those I mentor is that the journey is a self-ordained discovery –– with help, pointers and nudges along the way, if you need that, but always, always you being the ultimate master of your own direction and attainments.

I have a tendency to work on your sideline, “behind the scene” so to speak, always with a thought to what your future will be.  I won’t always make it obvious that I am doing this — thinking about you, figuring out your map.

... I want the rabbit holes to take you on unimaginable routes with startlingly mind-boggling outcomes.

... I want the pleasure of discovery to be 100% yours

... I want the final glory to be 100% yours

Go ahead, get a little lost on your journey. Celebrate that.

If you don't get lost from time to time, you're not putting enough into it to get anything out of it.

I'm here to help you find where you are on the map when you need me.

I'm good at that (I've been doing it for a long time ... ;o))

Though, don't forget, it's your map.

If you are looking for a "serious" education in photography and art, with a fixed curriculum and strict rules, with no one there who actually cares about your goals, you may want to go to an institution.
